Are you a breastfeeding Mumma or Mumma-to-be? Breastfeeding is a wonderful and natural part of mum life but it isn’t always easy and can be draining on our bodies. Here are some ways that you can support your body as it works extra hard to feed another human being!
My breastfeeding must haves:
Fennel essential oil supports your milk supply. It can help both with promoting your milk to come in or to boost your current milk supply along your breastfeeding journey.
I used Fennel whenever my supply suddenly dropped or if my little one increased the amount she was taking due to a leap or growth spurt. Simply rub some Fennel EO & fractionated coconut oil (approx 5 drops in 10mls FCO) on my chest (keeping well clear of the nipple area for bubs sake) a couple of times during the day and within 24 hours I had more than enough milk!
*If you need extra help beginning milk production after your baby is born, try adding Clary Sage essential oil too.
This blend of pure essential oils is on my breastfeeding must have list because when you are a new mum you can experience a roller coaster of emotions! This is increased further if you are having difficulty with feeding and/or supply. Studies show that stress and anxious feelings can have a negative effect on our milk supply and so this beauty of a blend is here to help! It is so calming and helps to keep those anxious feelings at bay, leaving you feeling grounded and confident. Apply topically on your pulse points or breathe it in deeply and enjoy the serenity!
It is so important to keep hydrated when you are breastfeeding! Add a couple of drops of lemon essential oil to your water bottle and drink throughout the day. Lemon will help to boost your hydration and leave you feeling refreshed at the same time. Keep your water bottle on your ‘feeding station’ if you forget to drink water and then you’ll be reminded every time you sit down to feed!
Add some yummy, healthy snacks and leave your bottle of Balance essential oil blend at your feeding station too, to promote an enjoyable and relaxing feeding experience.
You’re doing an incredible job Mumma, hats off to you!
